A Study of the Dialect in The Spring and Autumn Annals of Viscount Yan

《晏子春秋》是一部描写春秋末年齐国丞相晏婴事迹的历史故事集,其成书年代在战国中期或稍前。《晏子春秋》中有为数不少的方言。虽然它的作者为齐人,但其中的方言并不限于齐语,还有其他地方语,是齐人对其他方言的吸收。《晏子春秋》中名词、形容词方言数量相当,各为7个;而动词则较多,是名词、形容词方言数量之和,即14个。

The Spring and Autumn Annals of Viscount Yah was a collection of the historical stories of Yan Ying, the renowned prime minister of the Qi State in the late Spring and Autumn Period. The work was finished in the middle of the Warring States Period or even earlier. There exists a respectable amount of dialects in The Spring and Autumn Annals of Viscount Yah. Though its author was a native of the Qi State, the dialect in it was by no means confined to the dialect of the Qi State, but rather included those in other areas as well, which exemplified the Qi people＇s absorption of other dialects. The amount of dialectical nouns and adjectives in The Spring and Autumn Annals of Viscount Yan each is seven, but the number of dialectical verb in it is fourteen, aggregating the combined amount of dialectical nouns and adjectives.
