The traditional ecological awareness and behaviors of Dong people, as part of Dong culture, constitute a unique cultural - ecological system with its practicability and stability. The paper takes the ecological behavior of traditional Dong forest as an example and analyzes its great function on the adaptation and integration of the relationship between man and nature which plays an active role in restricting man＇ s predatory behaviors and protecting the eco - environment. The modern construction in ethnic areas is a systematic project which needs to promote economic and social developments as well as focus on the environmental protection and the ecological balance. We should draw lessons on the enlightened value of the traditional wisdom of environmental protection, which is of great significance of holding a forward looking and solicitude for the relationship between man and the environment, and maintaining a sustainable development.
