'Disturbance over Stages' in 1979:An Interpretation from the Perspective of History of Thought

社会主义发展阶段问题是新中国成立以后亟待解决的一个重大理论和现实问题。在1979年初的理论工作务虚会上,苏绍智、冯兰瑞提交的发言稿《无产阶级取得政权后的社会发展阶段问题》再次引发了对这个问题的讨论。围绕"过渡时期"、"不发达的社会主义"、"中国是不是社会主义"等问题,理论界进行了长达五年之久的争论。作为当代中国思想理论界一次重要的学术论争,这次"阶段风波"是理论界从社会主义发展阶段的角度,对理解和实践马克思主义中国化的又一次探索。它促使了30年来新中国社会主义建设理论的一次重大转折,成为社会主义初级阶段理论的直接思想来源。今天应该坚持科学的分析态度和方法给予"阶段风波"以客观的历史评价和定位。

Stages of socialist development has been a significant theoretical and practical issue that needs solution after the founding of the PRC. At the seminar on ideological guidelines in early 1979, Stages of Socialist Development after the Proletariat Seized Political Power, an article submitted by Su Shao-zhi and Feng Lan-rui, induced discussion of the issue again and initiated a five-year debate among the academia over issues such as transitional period, ＂underdeveloped socialism＂ and ＂whether China is socialism＂. As an important academic debate among modern Chinese academia, this ＂tisturbance over stages＂ was another exploration in interpreting and practicing the adaptation of Marxism to Chinese conditions from the perspective of stages of socialist development. It spurred a major turning point in the theory of building socialism in China in the past 30 years and became the direct ideological source of the theory of the primary stage of socialism. Today, we should objectively evaluate and position the disturbance over stages＇in a scientific manner.
