Beijing Olympic Games Volunteer Action:A Semiotic Perspective

This paper looks from a semiotic perspective at Beijing Olympic Games volunteer action, with the volunteers＇ services as the signifier. But because there were actually more than one object concerned in the sign, the signified deserves a multi-dimensional explanation. Beijing Olympic Games volunteer action carries forward the Olympic Spirit,serves as the image ambassador of the city of Beijing and even the whole nation of China,promotes international cultural exchange, embodies a more progressive China, and is the representamen of the volunteer＇ s individual values. Most essentially, however, Beijing Olympic Games volunteer action boils down to humanistic spirit,and at the same time best interprets the meaning of the ＂Humanistic Olympics＂.
