As the only renowned prose masterpiece in Britain in the 15th century, Sir Thomas Malory＇ s Le Morte d＇Arthur is an important milestone in the prose development from the late Middle Ages to the contemporary process, and an immortal work of the romantic legend of King Arthur in Middle English as well. This paper aims to analyze how Malory depicts the perfect knight image of the late Middle Ages by applying the contractual structure hidden in the text.
