Philip Roth published Exit Ghost in 2007, declaring this would be his last novel with Nathan Zuckerman as the narrator. This essay analyzes the novel from the narratological perspective, maintaining that it is another example of Roth＇ s experiment with writing techniques. By using complicated narrative techniques, Roth intends to draw the reader＇ s attention to the theme of the novel, which is also the everlasting theme of literature： the conflicts between death and desire.
