Is Historical Determinism Really Exhausted?

马克思主义的历史决定论长期以来一直被人们歪曲为非科学的宿命论或是机械的经济决定论而横遭批判。然而无论是在物质生产力还是精神生产力中,具有主观能动性的"现实的人"的实践活动是决定性要素,所以现实的人及其实践活动是人类社会发展的终极原因。可见,马克思主义的历史决定论既不是非科学的宿命论,也不是机械的经济决定论,而是科学的因果决定论。

For a long time Marxist historical determinism has unreasonably been distorted as unscientific fatalism and mechanical economic determinism. In fact, however, the practice of initiative ＂realistic men＂ is the deter-minative factor of both substantial and spiritual production, so realistic men and their practical activities are the ultimate dynamo of development of human society. From the above, Marxist historical determinism is neither unscientific nor mechanical but a scientific causal determinism.
