Objective Managing and applying medical records well and scientifically is a serious subject for every manager of medical records. Methods The best way to solve this subject lied in the application of advanced making system of digital medical records which changed medical records data of discharged patients to digital images through digital imaging transformation. The digital images were stored in servers and disk chassises, and then their backups were recorded in DVD discs to make ＂digital medical records＂ which offred a system with online searching function. Results The digital medical records data stored in servers and storage devices could be retrieved through online search in the whole hospital. In this way, medical staffs didn＇t need to borrow the original paper- based medical records from medical records department. Condusions Digital medical records improved manual management of medical records to computer management which greatly enhanced the scientific and working efficiency of medical records, and made the precious medical records resources serve the society adequately. Thus, digital medical records have become an indispensable link to the construction of digital hospital.
