Causes of Aristocratic Family in Traditional Chinese Medicine in Suzhou during Ming and Qing Dynasty and Its Influence

我国明清医学世医众多,以江南最大的地域性医学学派——吴中医派为例探讨其世家众多之成因与影响。认为主要有地域经济优势,文化教育环境、社会机制等方面的因素,世医推动了中医学专科化,完成了一些有影响的专著,其后人对中医学的传承与发展及传播做出了重要贡献。

There are numerous Chinese traditional medicals in our country during Ming and Qing Dynasty. Among the variety of regional medical schools, Wu Chinese medicine school is the most influential one in the region south of Yangtze River. This article takes Wu School as an example to investigate causes of numerous aristocratic families in traditional Chinese medicine and their influences. The causes are as follows： strong regional economy, superb educational environment, and good social mechanism etc. Aristocratic families in traditional Chinese medicine promoted the Chinese medicine to be specialized, and quite a few famous monographs were completed. Moreover, the descendants of those aristocratic families made a significant contribution to inheriting, developing and expanding traditional Chinese medicine.
