Some Issues of Oral History in the Contemporary China History Studies:Discipline and Methodology

口述史既是学科又是方法论,二者在运用方式上有同构性,在研究理念上则有质的不同。有关回忆录、访谈录等是否算作口述史以及国史研究中的口述史是否可信等问题的争论,实质上是没有区分作为学科的口述史与作为方法的口述史的差别。

Oral history is a term both referring to a discipline and a research methodology. Though these two have something in common, they are basically different in scientific research fields. It has been a controversial issue whether memoirs and interview minutes belong to oral history, or even whether oral history is reliable for China history studies. In fact, these disputes result from confusing the concept of oral history as a discipline and that as a research methodology.
