The Dilemma of the West Indians' Assimilation in Postwar Britain

摘要 从二战后至60年代初,西印度群岛人掀起了移民英国的高峰。他们在一些大城市建立了许多民族聚居区,积极与英国白人通婚,努力参与英国的劳动市场与政治领域,期望融入英国社会。但是,作为一支黑人移民群体,他们在英国的同化之路,却遭遇到严重的种族歧视。 West Indians made an influx of immigration to Britain since the end of the Second World War till the early of 1960s. They entered some big cities, established their ethnic communities, and actively participated in local labor markets and politics fields. Meanwhile, there were increasing marriages betv＆een West Indians and Whites over time. However, West Indians suffered from serious racial discrimination in Britain because they are not only immigrants, but also blacks. It must take a long period for them to achieve the real racial integration and equality.
