Research and development of controlled flap gate is found necessary according to the evaluation of advantages and disadvantages of automatic hydraulic control flap gate. The design theory is proposed by comparing advantages and disadvantages of various controlled flap gates. Pump-control-motor flap gate is used to illustrate the design theory and detailed introduction is made on the structure, working principle and key element of design, which provides a technical base for further studies of hydraulic control flap gate.
