在人类文化发展史上,西方文化不仅保持了历史上的连续性,而且表现出高潮相间的周期性特征。如果根据文化成果所能达到的文明高度及其对人类社会发展的影响程度,西方文化发展进程先后出现过三大高潮。分析这三大高潮出现的背景和条件,总结其经验教训,对于自觉推进中国特色社会主义文化大发展无疑具有一定的启迪价值。

During the culture history of humankind, western culture not only kept the continuity of development, but also presented the character of periodicity. There have appeared three tides in the developing process of the western euhure continuously, if judged by the civilization height and the degree of the influence on the social development of the human being that the cultural produets have made. It has certain significance in promoting the great development of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics to analyze the context and conditions of these three tides.
