Owing to her generosity and kindness, Zhang Ai-ling addressed herself to the sick men and their fate, having authentically recorded the patients caught between sexual love and family love, their grievances in life and the cruelty of life. She expressed her endless love for this world through the patients struggling with life and showed an aceomondating and merciful heart which was above the good or evil through the depiction of sexual love lost to illness or the degeneration of family love. Instead of making simplistic moral conclusions, Zhang Ai-ling＇s illness narrative recorded human＇s complex emotions in the world of disease, and its ethics ineluctably pointed to man＇s life and soul.
