Objective To investigate the change cells in patients with Graves disease. Methods in count of circulating CD4^+ CD25^+ regulatory T (Treg) The counting of CD4^+ CD25^+ and CD4^+ CD25^+ high regulatory T cells was examined by using a flow cytometer in 59 patients with initial Graves disease and 29 healthy volunteers. Results There was no significant difference in count of CD4^+ CD25^+ and CD4^+ CD25^+high regulatory T cells between the patient group and the control group. Thirty-two patients with positive microsomal antibody had significantly higher proportion of CD4^+ CD25 ^+high regulatory T cells compared with that of the control group. There was no significant difference in the proportion of CD4^+CD25^+ and CD4^+CD25^+high regulatory T cells before and after treatment with PTU in 17 patients. Conclusion There are no significant changes in the proportion of CD4^+CD25^+ regulatory T cells not only in patients with Graves diseases but also before and after treatment with PTU. However, compared with healthy control, higher count of CD4^+ CD25^+high regulatory T cells has been observed in some patients with initial Graves disease who have abnormal thyroid-related immune tests, indicating more severe cell immune disorder in these patients. More special T cell tests are needed in further research of autoimmune disease.
