Spatial data is a very important part of GIS. As the spatial data engine,ArcSDE can improve the efficiency of spatial data management. The article introduces spatial data structure briefly,expatiates the architecture and principle of ArcSDE and its advantages over traditional method of spatial data management and depicts the technology and method to establish spatial database based on the technology of AreSDE ＋ SQL Server 2000 using the example of Chongqing underground river database.
