Carl Sandgurg was an outstanding writer and an unique poet in modern literatural history in America.He was the most important poet among ＂Chicago poets＂. As a poet who has experienced Spanish American War understood deeply.This paper is to research Sandburg＇s war attitudes that transformed from advocating war into against war and at last,supporting the just war.We can clearly find this kind of transformation in his poems.When we read his poems,we can see the development process of being a ＂people＇s poet＂;furthermore,we can deeply learn his profundity and eternal： the war ,whether just or unjust, is evil,cuel and absurd.
