Cultural Reflection of Yan Zhi-tui in Northern Qi Dynasty

颜之推一生,历经南梁、北齐、北周和隋四朝。遭逢离乱,数次遇险皆幸而存活。出身南方高门士族的他,南北地域的文化差异、更迭变化的政治环境以及复杂人际交往环境等因素,促使其不断反思自身及南北方文化,并一一倾力于其晚年所著《颜氏家训》中。

Yan Zhi-tui spent his life in Liang dynasty, Northern Qi dynasty, Northern Zhou dynasty and Sui dynasty. Met with the separation and war, he was in danger several times, but all fortunately survived. Cultural differences between north and south region, changes of political environment, and complicated interpersonal relationship, made him taking an introspection into himself, the southern culture and the northern culture in his Family Instructions of Yan Clan.
