On the Function of Background Knowledge of the Learners in College English Teaching by Using the Schema Theory

摘要 依据图式理论,探讨背景知识在大学英语教学中的应用,通过背景知识的填充使学生对已有的图式进行补充修正,使大学生英语的听说读写译这五项技能都得到提高,以适应社会发展的需要。 With the development of our country, the society needs the college graduates to know more about the difference between our country and the western countries. And their ability to communicate with foreigners is of vital importance. So their English level should be higher than before. But nowadays, the English level of the college students can' t catch up with the pace of the society. So the English teachers in the university face a lot of difficulties during their teaching. This article tries to find a new and practical way of teaching with the theory of schema which can help the students to learn English well with high efficiency, so as to promote their ability to read efficiently in English
