This paper, comparing the developing history and current situation of picture books in China, Japan and South Korea, based on the developing history and present situation of the Chinese original picture books, the basic concepts about the picture book art are further defined, and the picture books＇ actual condition and prospect is deeply analyzed. What＇s more, the significance of the picture books＇ development is detailed discussed; meanwhile, the development direction of Chinese picture books is explored. It is wished that the paper could be helpful for the picture books＇ creation, publication, and promotion.
