旧金山的《游吟诗人》 《游吟诗人》证明了威尔第选择歌剧脚本时，并没有考虑剧情的合理性。萨尔瓦多·卡马拉诺（Salvadore Cammarano）以安东尼·加西亚．古铁雷斯（Antonio Garcia Guiterrez）的同名西班牙戏剧为基础撰写的脚本讲述了一个杂乱无章的故事，只有音乐描述的高涨情绪，才勉强把零碎的情节连贯起来。

OUTLINE/The fall season on the American West Coast started with a big hit at the San Francisco Opera.Nicola Luisotti,the third music director ever appointed to this opera house,led an emotionally and dramatically charged Il Trovatore.At the same time as San Francisco Opera presented the verdi classic,Berkeley presented a US premiere of composer Evan Ziporyn's A House in Bali,employing musical forces from Bang on a Can All-Stars as well as a gamelan group from Indonesia,where the music was very interesting,but the staging could have been a lot better.
