This paper is a brief design description of the comprehensive reconstruction project of Shi Liu Pu wharf, expatiating the architects＇ ponder of the city riverside area. The leitmotiv of the design is ＂Approach to the river, back to the people＂ , an idea got from a deep research on the old and New Shi Liu Pu wharf through its historical status, project background, design conception and project highlight. The designers determine that space close to the riverside should be approachable so as to give back the river to the people.
