The author describes carefully an important feature of Tectonics--the in-visibility, which is internalizing the issue of visibility into that of tectonics, whether you see things or not. The concept of tectonics is literally less clear defined anywhere. The author also introduces his concept--"Tectonic Compacts" (He borrows a mathematics term here). For example, the concrete itself could be a tectonic compact, which means it can be made into enough of a system to give us the defining criteria to build well. The author uses the architects Louis I. Kahn,Robert LeRicolais' practices as example to proof his concept. When discussing the influence to tectonics caused by the change of the concept of gravity in contemporary science, the author seeks supports from Euclidian geometry, relativity, topography and other contemporary mathematics and physics, and discuss such change has caused great influences over abstract art and modern architecture. These influences in the science, art and architecture fields are also tightly related to the readability and invisibility of tectonics.
