A new kind of efficient sulfonitriding process has been studied by high frequency induction heating.The agent consists of urea,sodium thiosulffate pentahydrate and KBF 4.Having been treated at a temperature of 570℃ and a time of half an hour,for 38CrMoAl steel,porous layer and nitriding layer with over 0 1mm and with hardness over 1000HV 0.5 can be aquired.By means of X ray structure analyser and TEM,the exper imental results prove that the sulfonitriding layers consist mainly of FeS,Fe 3O 4 and Fe 2N phases,and the penetration depth of sulphur can't exceed 50μm.The sulfonitriding layer possesses good wear and thermal fatigue resistance.
