英汉空间隐喻的相似性——以“up/down”与“上/下”为例

Similarities between English-Chinese metaphor of vertical locality

隐喻在本质上是一种思维方式,是人类所共有的认知模式,因此不同语言文化背景下的隐喻,由于人类身体体验和物理体验的共性,呈现出一定的相似性。本文以"up/down"与"上/下"为例,通过对比它们在数量、社会地位、时间、状态方面的隐喻,说明英汉两种语言在空间隐喻概念上存在的相似性,并初步论证产生这种相似性的原因。
