With the popularization and application of commercialized transgenic Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis)ercps in large area, increasing concern has been paid to their potential impact on cultivated ecosystem. Many studies showed that toxin proteins could be released into soil from transgenic Bt crops by different ways and be persisted in soil for long time, which should impact on soil ecosystem. In this paper, advances in research on effects of soil ecosystem by toxin proteins released from transgenic Bt crops were reviewed, including addressing way of toxin proteins released into the soil from transgenic Bt crops, purifying and detecting methods of toxin proteins from soil, persistence dynamics of toxin proteins in soll and their impact on soil organisms and soil enzyme activities. The review should provide reference for ecological risk assessment of transgenic Bt crops to soil environment.
