There were three"women contingents"in the parade,which was held on October 1.The contingents included women from the armed forces,women from the militia,and women fighter pilots. The parade marked the first time that so many women participated in the national military parade since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It also marked the first time that contingents of women from the militia and fighter pilots took part in the parade. Suddenly,the"contingents of women"were a hot topic in China.Many female college students have since said the grand military parade was so unforgettable that they want to become military personnel.
