An Analysis of Western Scholars’ Different Perspectives on the Urbanization of China during the Planned Economy Era

摘要对于1949年后到改革开放前的中国城市化进程,西方学者开展了深入研究,并取得了一些成果,但因为研究角度不同所得出的结论相差较大。有一些视角值得关注,如从中国城市化与工业化关系来研究城市化,得出那一时期城市化或属于"滞后城市化",或是"过度城市化";从城乡关系来研究,则发现其城市化进程或受"农村偏向"政策影响,或为"城市偏向"政策左右。 From 1949 to the reform era, China＇s urbanization process had traversed an extraordinary path. In this regard, Western scholars have been very concerned and put forward some unique insights. From different relationships, such as the industrialization-urbanization relation, the rural--urban relation, Western scholars had studied China＇s urbanization .The article studies the western scholars＇different perspectives on the urbanization of China during the planned economy era. So it will help us to multi-dimensional understanding of China＇s urbanization.
