Stromal cells are one of the important components of tumor microenvironment,which plays an oncogenic role in tumorigenesis.Stromal cells and their products can transform adjacent tissues in the absence of pre-existing tumor cells by inciting phenotypic and genomic changes in the epithelial cells.The research on the tumor-associated-stromal cells will be benefi t in clarifying the mechanisms of carcinogenic lesions and investigating more effective therapy methods.
