美国学校数学教育中重视表征的价值和作用．美国数学教育中“表征”的特色有：强调表征在数学中的重要地位，注重教师在表征中的重要作用，各学段表征目标具体且操作性强，表征案例来自实际而亲切自然．数学教学中，应该将表征作为教学的重要活动；应该注重不同表征间的相互转化；应该积极鼓励学生富有个性的表征．

The mathematic education of American schools paid much attention to the values and the function of the representation. Many specialties of representation, which appeared in the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics of American, and the practices of mathematic education had much use for reference to the reform of the mathematic courses and the mathematic education of the day. In mathematic teaching, we should make the representation be the important activity of the teaching. We should lay stress on the mutual transformation of different representations. We should positively encourage the students to have the representations, which were rich in individualities.
