曾孝广是名相之后,以恩荫入仕。他为政务实,长于治水。曾对江南漕运力图革新,但最后失败。与苏轼等宋代文人交往,提升了自己的声誉。理学兴起之时,他也受到渲染。

Zeng Xiao-guang was a descendant of a famous Prime Minister of Song Dynasty. He stepped into the official circle by the emperors favour. He took pragmatic measures in political career, and was good at water - control. Zeng Xiao-guang had innovated the canal transportation of Southern China, but failed at last. His close association with Su Shi and the other men of letters of Song Dynasty redounded his fame. He had also been influenced when the Neo - Confucianism rose.
