Different Versions of Turandot

"图兰朵"最早源自阿拉伯民间故事,后来在流传的过程中相继在几种语言、几个国家和地区、几种艺术样式中进行了不断的改变和增删。为了适应各国不同的文化和心理,也根据不同艺术样式的需要,每一次变动中都折射出浓厚的地域性文化和艺术体裁的独特性。通过对这一素材的考证,不仅可以了解阿拉伯地区、欧洲、中国等地区不同文化的差异和特点,也可以对民间传说、戏剧、歌剧的各自表现方法有深一层的理解。

＂Turandot＂ originated from the ancient Arab folk stories, and in the process of circulation, underwent constant changes found in its versions of different languages and art types. To meet different cultures and psychology as well as the requirements of different art types, each change produced unique features that evinced marked regional culture and art type. A comparative study of these versions will enable us to know the differences and features of different cultures, either Arabic, European or Chinese and gain a deeper insight into different ways of expression, of those, folklore, drama and opera are typical.
