Pragmatic Analysis of English Verbal Humor

幽默是一种言语艺术,它的产生一方面离不开语言本身的内在规律,另一方面也在很大程度上有赖于语言在语境中的使用情况。而语用学的任务就是研究把特定的话语放在特定的语境中使用所产生的交际功能。从语用学角度看,幽默的产生有其一定的规律,语用原则与英语幽默的产生存在着内在的联系,对此有所了解有助于深刻理解英语幽默这一语言现象,从而在更高层次上提高语言交际能力。

Verbal humor＇s generation cannot depart from the internal regularity of language, and it is also, to a large extent, determined by the language contexts. Pragmatics is to analyze specific utterances in specific contexts and find out how to use language rules in various communicafive situations. The generation of verbal humor is internally related to the violation of pragmatic principles. It will be of vital significant to understand how English humor is generated so as to understand and appreciate verbal humor and improve learner＇ s language communicative competence.
