An observational and Experimental Study of the Adapted Use of Space

本文通过观察、实验研究空间异用——一种不按设计师的设计意图去使用环境的行为。研究结果表明,“功能固定”是创造环境价值的障碍。限定性空间中产生异用意图的次数高于非限定性空间,而产生有明确主题的异用意图次数非限定性空间又高于限定性空间,这是设计者必须考虑的依据之一。

This paper studies through observation and experimentation the adapted use of space, namely, the use of environment contrary to the designer's will.The study shows that 'fixed function' is a barrier to the creation of environmental value. Intentions of adapted use tend to occur more in a definitive space than in a non-definitive space, while intentions of adapted use to produce clear theme tend to occur more in a definitive space. This is a factor of reference designers must consider.
