摘要
美国当代著名女作家乔伊斯.卡罗尔.欧茨的中篇小说《野兽》是一部密切关注美国大学生活、深入探索人性的复杂性的力作。本文分析了小说中精心设置的五个悬念,阐明了该小说与欧美文学史上其他许多文本之间的互文性关系,并结合欧茨的一些言论概括了她关于人性的复杂性、阴暗面的深刻洞见及其小说中所表现出来的强烈的现实关怀。
Beasts by famous contemporary American woman writer Joyce Carol Oates is a masterpiece that is concerned about American university life and explores the complexity of human nature. This paper analyzes the well-designed suspense in the novella, clarifies intertextual relations between this novella and other texts in European and American literary history, and summarizes Oates' insights into complexity and dark side of human nature in combination with some of her words, and her strong concern with reality expressed in her fiction.
