Humanity and History:Reflections on Disgrace

本论文着重探讨了南非作家库切在《耻》中对当代南非社会人性的扭曲以及人性与历史关系的探究。库切认为造成当代南非社会人性扭曲的历史和社会根源是南非的种族隔离制度和殖民主义。这一罪恶的制度不仅给黑人种族造成了巨大的伤害,而且给白人种族也带来了严重的心灵创伤。在废除了种族隔离制度的新南非,白人种族也面临着身份界定和文化认同的问题。

This paper mainly expounds on the distorted humanity and the relationship between humanity and history in Coetzee’s novel Disgrace. Coetzee believes that the historical and social root of the distorted humanity reflected in the novel is South Africa’s policy of apartheid and colonialism. This policy has not only brought huge hurt on the Black but on the White. After the abolishment of the policy, white people in South Africa have been facing the problem of culture and identity recognition.
