坚定不移发展社会主义民主政治,走中国特色社会主义政治发展道路,是我们党在新世纪新阶段进行政治建设的基本方略。党的十七大报告不仅准确界定了社会主义民主政治的科学内涵,而且还明确了发展社会主义民主政治的战略选择为:推进社会主义民主政治的制度化、规范化、程序化;通过发展基层民主夯实民主政治的社会基础;以扩大党内民主带动人民民主;实现选举民主和协商民主双轮驱动。

To persist in developing socialist democracy and take the development road of socialist politics with Chinese characteristics is the basic strategy of our Party in the building of politics in the new era. In the report of the 17th National Congress of the CPC,the scientific connotation of socialist democracy has got clearly defined, and the strategy for the development of socialist democracy has also been clearly made, that is, to develop the socialist democracy into a systematic and standard procedure;to solidate the social foundation for the development of grass-roots democracy ; to improve people＇s democracy by way of expanding intra-Party democracy;and to practice a dual system of achieving democracy both by election and by negotiation.
