Disputes over talented women took place in the German literature in the 1800s. Influenced by the Chinese literature, Schiller revised Turandot, an Italian opera, into a German drama that claimed for female liberty, and Goethe translated four poems by Chinese poetesses into German. A look at this reception history reveals that the translation of the literary works by ancient Chinese talented women signifieantly.effected an favorable evaluation of the poetesses and female literature in the German literary field. It also shaped Goethe's concept of world literature.
