A Brief Discussion on the 1943 Celebration Activities of the Abolition of Unfair Treaties Held by the Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang Party

废除不平等条约在抗战期间得以实现,是中国人民长期不懈顽强御侮的历史报偿,也是国共合作全民族团结抗战的必然结果。它提振了民心,鼓舞了士气,坚定了中国军民夺取抗战胜利的信念。国共两党因之不约而同地举行了盛大的庆祝活动。尽管国共两党对这一事件的理解和评价并不完全一致,但废约所产生的积极政治影响,客观上维护和巩固了业已形成的抗日民族统一战线。

The unfair treaties were abolished during the anti-Japanese War,which was believed to be a reward for the Chinese people s undaunted struggle against the foreign invasions and a definite result.It had not only inspired the Chinese people and the soldiers but also strengthened their belief of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.As a result,the Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang Party held grand celebrations for the abolition of the unfair treaties coincidentally.Even though the two parties did not share the same understanding and evaluation of this event, the abolition of the unfair treaties had yielded positive political influence and had defended and strengthened the Anti-Japanese national united front which already formed at that period in an objective way.
