The emergence of Manet indicates the interruption of classical aesthetic tradition. Roger Fry's formalism criticism is aimed at the Post-Impressionist painter, especially, Paul Cezanne. Post-Impressionist developed Roger Frye's general concept of aesthetic formalism. The reputation as a critic of Post-Impressionist theory was based on the research on Cezanne. After Cezanne, the godfather of Cubism is Apollinare. Apollinare adjusted his position in continuously changed style. His concern and criticism made Cubism possible.
