Music——Another Way of Understanding Haruki Murakami

村上春树童年开始学习钢琴,大学期间与爵士、摇滚为伍,毕业后经营爵士酒吧,音乐造诣非同一般。村上擅长讲故事,更擅长用音乐渲染气氛。因此,若想深刻理解村上及村上的文学,音乐是必不可少的方法。本文从村上与音乐的关系入手,通过分析《挪威的森林》《国境以南太阳以西》及《奇鸟行状录》等三篇小说的背景音乐,探索用音乐理解村上的可能及音乐在村上文学中的重要作用。

Haruki Murakami is well versed in music. He learnt playing piano in his childhood and indulged himself in jazz and rock-and-roll in his college years. After graduation he ran a jazz bar. Being an excellent story-teller, Haruki often sets the tone of his story by music. Therefore, music is a key to a better understanding of Haruki and his novels. This paper, studying the background music of Norwegian Wood, South of Border West of the Sun and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, attempts to explore the music factor in Haruki＇s novels and find out to what degree Haruki can be understood by his music.
