Beauvoir's thought of "Other" originated mainly from Satre's existentialism and Hegel's Master-Slave Dialectics. The limitation of this thought lies in its severing from concrete historical context, lacking in concrete social content and overlooking of the construction of female identity. As a result,it failed to offer an ideal settlement of the relations between the two sexes.Irigaray inherited and developed Beauvoir's thought of "Other" in which she united women's immanence and transcendence, combined deconstruction and construction, provided women with the space for self-development,endeavored to remove the binary opposition between the two sexes, and actively created a culture of two subjects.
