Unveil the Sphinx:On the Spirit of Neoliberalism and Ideology of Mass Consumption Society

当今社会流行着一种意识形态终结论,然而,这并不意味着一切意识形态就自此而终结。相反,悄然建构起来的是新自由主义精神与消费的意识形态。新自由主义精神是当今资本主义社会的政治意识形态,而消费社会意识形态则是文化方面的意识形态。之所以将二者界定为意识形态,在于二者的实质都是要建构资本主义民主、自由的假象,只不过是在不同的层面采取了不同的建构方式。通过研究此两种意识形态及其建构方式,由此揭示当今泛意识形态化的社会现实。在这样的社会中,人们的政治生活乃至日常生活的方方面面都被意识形态所构建。意识形态无处不在,生存空间为意识形态所解构。人们时刻体验着所谓的自由、民主,却又无处不在枷锁之中。

A theory that ideologies have ended prevails nowadays, but it does not imply that all of ideologies actually ended. On the contrary, the spirit of neoliberalism and ideology of mass consumption society are rising without being noticed. The spirit of neoliberalism is just the political ideology adaptable to the present capitalist society, while the ideology of the mass consumption society is an ideology in view of the culture. The reason why both of them are defined as ideologies is that the essence of them is to envisage an illusion about the capitalistic democracy/liberty -- it is nothing but taking different views. Studying the two ideologies and the ways to frame them, the present pan-ideological reality is revealed that in the present society everyone＇s political life even his/her daily life is affected even controlled by ideology. It means that the influence of ideology exists everywhere, and people＇s living space is thus constructed. People enjoy the so-called freedom and democracy at all times, but they are shackled by the freedom and democracy everywhere.
