On the Origin of Emily Bronte’s Religious Complex and External Appearance in Her Creation

艾米莉.勃朗特出生在牧师家庭,但是,艾米莉个人的宗教思想始终是个谜,评论界尚无定论,有人认为她是泛神论者,也有人说她是异教徒,更有人指出艾米莉其实就是无神论者。但不可否认的是,她的诗歌和小说充满了浓厚的宗教色彩。

Emily Bronte was bom in a pastor＇s family. Either her poems or her novel are rich in religious colors. However, it＇s hard to identify her religion for critics. Someone labeled her as a pantheist, some a pagan, even an atheist. Undoubtedly, the Bronte sisters shared the same religious education, but Emily＇s religion is so different from Charlotte＇s or Anne＇s. The paper here tries to discuss Emily＇s religion from two aspects： contem- porary religious climate and the family religious environment, what＇s more, the paper tries to emphasis Method- ism＇s influence on Emily＇s religious establishment.
