Jiang Jianqing,56 years old,now presides over Industrial and Commercial Bank of China(ICBC), a commercial bank with the largest market value in the world.Among Chinese large state-owned financial institution leaders,Jiang Jianqing may be the most qualified to be a banker in a real sense. Different from Guo Shuqing,chairman of China Construction Bank,and Xiao Gang,chairman of Bank of China,he has no political experience.Since entering ICBC in 1979,he has been working hard to steadily rise one step hiaher,ultimately to that of chairman,a path well in line with international career practice. Since 2006,under his leadership,ICBC has launched five overseas mergers and acquisitions. These acquisitions have focused on emerging markets among Asian and African countries,rather than developed countries in Europe or the United States,a clear sign of his pioneering courage.
