组织机构汉英译名统一的“名从源主”论

"Complying with Supreme Sources’ Versions" to Realize Consistency of C-E Translated Organization Names

我国的组织机构译名不统一问题严重。一个组织机构有多个英语译名,而且＂多版本＂的英语译名都在通用,导致对外宣传的英语译名信息杂乱无章。组织机构译名混乱的根源不是译者的翻译能力逊色,也不是译名主人麻痹大意,而是组织机构英语译名选取原则的长期缺失,经常导致机构译名的＂主人＂也难选其名。本文通过查阅有关译名统一的政府文件,对照组织机构网页上的多种译名,分析了我国组织机构英语译名的三类情况,提出了＂名从源主＂的组织机构译名统一原则,即：服从＂源头上＂最权威部门公布的译名,或遵从机构名称主人确立并使用已久的既定译名。

The inconsistency of translated names of China＇s organizations has been a serious problem in C-E translations. The problem that several translated English names for one organization are used interchangeably as ＂multi-versions＂ with no authoritative difference has resulted in a lot of messy information of those translated names in our foreign publicity. The cause of it lies neither in translators＇ poor capability,nor in translators＇ carelessness,but in the long lack of a pragmatic principle for owners of translated organization names to follow in choosing the right one from many. Based on the analysis of three situations of the translated names of China＇ organizations with reference to relevant government documents and some multi-versions of translated names in those organizations＇ website pages,has tried to propose ＂Complying with Supreme Sources＇ Versions＂ as a workable principle for us to realize consistency of C-E translated organization names.
