概念整合理论对英语幽默言语的解释

幽默是一种普遍而又特殊的语言形式。在日常言语交际和书面文体中,人们经常有意识或者无意识地使用幽默。由于人们对幽默的青睐及其普遍性,对它的研究从未停息。本文在前人研究的基础上,运用Fauconnier和Turner等人提出的概念整合理论和概念整合网络从认知的层面对英语幽默的意义构建进行分析,通过分析证明英语幽默的意义构建可以从认知的角度运用概念整合理论来阐释,为英语幽默的研究提供一种新的研究角度和方法。本文将概念整合的四种子网络和幽默实例相结合,在分析中注重认知过程的描述及各种子网络不同特色的总结。

Humor is an ubiquitous linguistic phenomenon in verbal communication. People often employ humor in communication consciously or unconsciously. Because of its popularity and universality, lots of studies on it have been done. This thesis, based on the previous achievements, tries to verify that conceptual integration theory, proposed by Gilles Fancormier and Mark Turner, is a general cognitive operation and serves a variety of cognitive purposes. By applying the conceptual integration theory to the meaning construction of English humor, this dissertation attempts to demonstlate that the meaning of English humor can be explained through the conceptual integration theory at the level of cognitive operation, and secondly attempts to offer an alternative perspective on the interpretation of English humor. The thesis will apply four sub-networks of conceptual integration with humor analysis, paying particular attention to the cognitive process of the achievement of humorous effect and distinct characteristics of the four sub-networks.
