摘要
元小说的实践同小说本身一样古老。但传统的元小说只存在于叙事中,人物本身则没有自我意识。现代主义元小说的人物开始觉醒,意识到自身的虚构性。后现代主义元小说中的人物则完全是"非身体化"的存在,并同作家一起游戏、表演。约翰.巴思的小说《路的尽头》很清晰地表明后现代元小说中人物虚假性格,并由此可以看出后现代主义元小说人物表演型人格的极致状态。
The practice of metafiction has the same history as that of novel itself.But traditional metafiction only exists in narration,characters having no self consciousness.Characters in modern metafiction began to awaken,realizing their fictitious nature.Comparatively,characters in postmodern metafiction are entirely existence in a non-body form and play and act together with the writer.John Barth s The End of The Road clearly demonstrates the fictitious nature of the characters in postmodern metafiction, by which the extreme state of histrionic personality of such characters is showed.
