A characteristic database should possess its own characteristics.Accordinging to the current situation of ＂characteristics＂ in the development of in characteristic database college libraries as well as the practice of ＂Fujian and Taiwan Ecological Agriculture Database＂ in the library of Zhangzhou Normal University, this article demonstrates from both the existence value and application value that the development of characteristic database in college libraries should be based on the orientation and characteristics of a university.
