英文写作中,名词起着越来越大的作用,相对于汉语来说,具有明显的强势。除了主语、谓语和表语外,常用作定语、状语等,还可构成短语动词和名词短语。而在汉语中,动词的作用却远大于名词。因此,在英译汉时需要掌握几种主要的翻译方法。
